The Silk Worm preserves your flowers at our store in downtown Rochester by freeze-drying and mounting them in a frame with an acrylic dome, a shadowbox, or a glass dome. Fresh flowers are used for many special occasions, and freeze-drying is among the most advanced methods of preserving their three-dimensional beauty.

The Silk Worm utilizes a state of the art process of flower preservation using the most advanced equipment and technology with a process called lyophilization, better known as freeze-drying. The flowers are flash frozen, then a vacuum is applied which extracts the moisture from the flowers in a vapor state. This enables the blossoms to maintain their size and form. The entire monitored extraction process takes approximately two weeks. Flowers are chemically pre-treated and post-treated, as necessary. As a result, the flowers will retain their delicate beauty of form and color for years to come.
