Distinctive Gifts and DĂ©cor
Everywhere you look is an eclectic mix of merchandise. These include playful animal-shaped watering cans, floral print umbrellas, kitchen linens, ceramics, dishes and serving pieces, cookbooks, quaintly painted metal baskets, and stationery and greeting cards. Custom gift baskets can also be created, tailored to your specifications. There are also themed sections for men’s, collegiate, children’s and “Made in Michigan” merchandise. The Michigan artisans, still growing in number, provide hand-crafted beeswax candles, scented vessels and wooden bowls, lamps and other one-of-a-kind wooden accents.
Creativity in Bloom: Live, silk and preserved flowers
While the sale of fresh flowers just began in April, customers have looked to The Silk Worm for the best in permanent botanicals (silk flowers) for 25 years. These silk flowers and foliage are available in ready-made or custom-designed arrangements, or elements can be purchased separately. If desired, our designers can conduct in-home or in-office consultations to determine the floral colors and composition to best enhance your room and the traditional, contemporary or other design style that best fits your décor.
In addition, The Silk Worm continues to be one of the few places in Southeast Michigan with the equipment and technology to preserve flowers in three dimension as a keepsake for years to come. As opposed to pressed or air dried flowers, we follow a precise two-week process called lyophilization (freeze drying), which largely maintains the flowers’ size, form and color. The 3-D flowers can be combined with photos, invitations or other memorabilia and housed within a boxed frame or encased in a shadowbox as a lasting tribute to weddings, births, anniversaries, funerals or other meaningful events. Call ahead, as our process requires us to obtain your flowers quickly after an event. You will want to receive our special instructions to maintain your flowers prior to preservation.

Our designers are here to support you during life’s major events. Through expert event planning, we bring to life the ambiance you desire at weddings, anniversary or birthday parties or other special events. Services include consultation and coordination of flowers, linens, table and room décor, and rental furniture.
Creative Workshops
Come join the fun and learn new skills at our workshops for the public. Held regularly, these classes provide tips on topics such as porch decoration, how to make perfect bows and embellishments for gift packages and tabletop settings for home entertaining.
